Anglican Devotional 15 February 2024 – Waiting On God

The Daily Fountain Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) 15 February 2024 – Waiting On God

TOPIC: Waiting On God

READ: Psalm 52: 1-9 (NKJV)

  1. To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God [endures] continually.
  2. Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
  3. You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah
  4. You love all devouring words, [You] deceitful tongue.
  5. God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of [your] dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
  6. The righteous also shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him, [saying,]
  7. “Here is the man [who] did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, [And] strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
  8. But I [am] like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.
  9. I will praise You forever, Because You have done [it;] And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for [it is] good.

THE MESSAGE:

The wicked man boasts in evil, devises destruction, loves evil more than good, lies and loves deceitful words. But God shall destroy the wicked forever; remove him from his dwelling place and uproot him from the earth. The righteous shall see the end of the wicked and mock him for rejecting God and trusting in riches while sinning. But the righteous shall trust in God’s mercy, praise Him forever in the presence of the saints for His goodness. He will also wait upon God.

The wicked person will sooner or later be punished by God if he continues in his wickedness. Therefore, Christians should not worry when the wicked seem to prosper and get along in life. It is important to know that God is good to people who wait for Him and it is good for one to wait quietly for God’s salvation (Lamentations 3: 25-26). Living a life of wickedness will lead to your destruction, so repent and seek God, and He will have mercy on you. Learn to wait on the Lord and seek His face in studying His word and communicating with Him in prayers. Your life will certainly be changed for the better.
