10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:
Greed is a strong and selfish desire to have more of anything than you need. The dictionary defines it as a strong desire for more food, money, power, possessions, and so on, than you need. Anyone who is greedy always wants more than they need even to the detriment of others. Greedy people do not care if others are hurt or deprived in any way as long as they get what they want. They don’t bother about others; they only care about themselves. This kind of attitude is an aberration to the Word of God and all that it teaches us to become. When there is greed in a family, there is a big problem because only one person would want to be great, prosperous, or blessed. Such a person wouldn’t want others to enjoy any good thing. The greedy wants to take it all, and by all means. Proverbs 1:19 says, “So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.”
According to Proverbs 15: 27, the greedy will always bring trouble to their families. We have an example of Achan in the book of Joshua chapter 7. Achan loved earthly possessions more than heavenly possessions. He took the Babylonian garments contrary to the Word of God and consequently brought destruction upon his family. Ananias and his wife, Sapphira rendered their children orphans in one day due to greed. They kept back what they should not and landed in serious trouble, which resulted in their death (Acts 5: 1-10). The Word of God in Proverbs 1:19 was fulfilled in the lives of Achan, Ananias and Saphira, they were greedy of gain and it took away their lives.
What can we say about Judas, who was numbered with the apostles? He walked with Jesus and worked signs and wonders like the other apostles but greed took hold of him and rubbished his anointing and ministry (Luke 9: 1-2). Therefore greed has no respect for your title, ministry or anointing. If you don’t deal with it, it will deal with you. Beloved, bring up the subject of greed in your family devotion, study it and pray it out of your family. Shalom!
