-Ruger Began Music In Church – Nigerian Afrobeats Star Reveals
Afrobeats artist Ruger shared on the Apple Music show Africa Now that his musical journey began in the church choir, where his vocals were shaped and honed.
Despite his vocal talents, Ruger prefers not to showcase them in his songs, reserving that experience for live performances.
The singer explained that he doesn’t even flaunt his vocal ability in his songs, stressing that those who have experienced him perform live have had the opportunity to enjoy his vocals.
He said, “Only people who have experienced me perform live have had the opportunity to enjoy my vocals. Even in my music, I don’t necessarily show it off.
“My favourite time being Ruger is when I’m performing on stage because I get to do whatever I like with my songs.
“I started from the choir. I know how to sing, especially when it is a song that resonates deeply with me.”
