TOPIC: Divine Gift Of Knowledge And Understanding
READ: Daniel 1: 17-21 (NKJV)
- As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
- Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
- Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king.
- And in all matters of wisdom [and] understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians [and] astrologers who [were] in all his realm.
- Thus Daniel continued until the first year of King Cyrus.
THE MESSAGE:
In our yesterday’s reading, Daniel and his three colleagues purposed in their hearts to honour and glorify God in a foreign land (Dan. 1:17). Consequently, God gave them knowledge, skill and understanding to face the stiff palace examination in Babylon. It can be said that Daniel and his fellows stuck out their necks and stood to obey and honour God because, as Hebrews were disciplined in the Law of the LORD, the word of God was in their spiritual DNA. This should be the way and life of all Christians. These young men honoured God secretly and openly and God blessed them with a divine gift of knowledge and understanding that made them ten times better than others when the result of the palace examination was released.
It takes honouring God in our conduct and character and obedience to the word of God to receive the blessing of wisdom, knowledge and understanding to excel in life. As believers, we must take our stand of faith to obey God’s word, honour and glorify Him at all times and in all places and before all people. When we do, because God honours them that honour Him, He will equip us with the necessary gifts to excel in all circumstances and situations, and triumph over every test and examination in life.
PRAYER: Lord, grant me the spirit of knowledge, revelation and understanding as I honour you in my life.
