THE MESSAGE:

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, self-reflection is the activity of thinking about your own feelings and behaviour, and the reasons that may lie behind them.

The Psalmist in verse 59 of our text reflected on the past times when he had wandered away from God’s presence. This drifting may have been caused by his ignorance or negligence.

In spite of this, when he examined his ways, he realised that he had erred. He pondered on his deeds and advised himself to turn away from the evil of rebellion and embrace the beauty of obedience. When the prodigal son also came to himself, he said “…I will arise and go to my father and say to him, “Father I have sinned against heaven and before you…”(Luke 15:17-19).

Today, believers are often too busy for self-reflection. Some Christians are pre-occupied with their career, personal responsibilities, family engagements, entertainment, etc., so much that they ignore the need for personal Christian reflection and steady growth.
You must create time for a diligent assessment of your life and make the necessary corrections. Sincere and timely self-reflection is important for a proper walk with God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I receive today the grace for constant self-reflection, Amen.
